Acetal
Best suited for applications requiring close tolerance.

Advantages of use of acetal based plastics

• they are chemically resistant
• they have a very low water absorption
• resistant to hydrolysis by base

Disadvantages of use of acetal based plastics

• low impact strength
• low melting temperature
• more rigid than nylons

P.E.T.P
Exhibits high strength with low hygroscopic properties, suitable for wear plates and other applications requiring no lateral movement.

Polyethylene
Westley Plastics offer a range of polyethylene including 300,500 and 1000 grades.  The material is most suited to applications requiring a low co-efficient of friction, for example: the food industry and conveyors.

PVC and Polypropylene
A lightweight, durable and colourful plastic material suitable for a wide range of applications, for example: covers, troughs and water tanks.

Polycarbonate
Positioned between commodity and engineering plastics, polycarbonates offer temperature resistance, impact resistance and optical properties making them suitable as a replacement
for traditional glass applications.

Phenolic Laminates
The Westex range of cotton and phenolic resin materials offers excellent wear resistance and a low friction coefficient whilst maintaining excellent compressive strength.  Fabric bearings are used as a replacement for white metals and help achieve huge cost savings.

Heavy engineering applications include:

Westex RM2/F1: Fine weave material for excellent mechanical strength and low water absorption.  Uses: Gears, bushes and electrical insulation

Westex RM2/F2: Medium weave combines mechanical strength and good electrical properties.
Uses: Gears, sheave wheels and anti-galvanic insulation

Westex RM2/F3: Course weave offering excellent wear resistance and impact strength.
Uses: Rolling mill bearings, thrust washers, wear pads and bushes

Injection Moulding
Westley Plastics provide a complete service from tool design to finished component and specialise in small batch production making injection moulding a cost effective solution to machine intricate parts.

Fabrications
Our fabrications department can produce most shapes and sizes from small water tanks to larger vessels, motor covers and electrical components.  We also offer on site fitting and assembly where required.
